Family's tribute to 'loving and gentle' man who died after he was pushed down nightclub stairs

A heartbroken family have paid tribute to a “loving and gentle” man who died after he was pushed down a flight of stairs at a Birmingham night club. Berhane Tsegay was forced down a flight of steps at the Sebene Habesha club in Birmingham on September 26, 2025. The 33-year-old sustained serious head injuries and despite the best efforts of medical staff he passed away three days later.
His family paid tribute to Berhane, saying: “We wish to express the profound and devastating impact his death has had on us and our wider community.
“Words cannot fully describe the depth of our loss and the pain we continue to endure.
“Berhane was a kind, loving, gentle, and humble man. He was a person of strong integrity, always honest, respectful, and true to his values.
“He worked hard and was determined to build a stable future for himself and to support his family. He was committed to learning new skills, including construction and other trades, and had a strong work ethic and great potential to contribute positively to society.”
