We invite you as friends and supporters of the Afar cause in Eritrea to join us, along with special guests from various representatives of Eritrean opposition groups, constitutional experts, human rights activists, and regional experts.
The conference will focus on discussions about the democratic future of Eritrea. The program will include presentations, Q&A sessions, traditional Afar food, and entertainment featuring a cultural show hosted by the local Afar community.
Our conference theme is, Autonomous Dankalia within United Eritrea.
This year, our conference calls for special status recognition for Afar and Dankalia.
Dankalia and the Afar nation are central to Eritrea's history, with significant geopolitical and geostrategic importance in the Red Sea coastal region. The area is rich in natural resources and has attracted powerful nations seeking dominance. Today, Dankalia and the Afar people suffer from internal colonization, repression, ethnic persecution, and tyranny under the ruling People's Front for Democracy and Justice. As a result of this oppression, efforts have been made by the Afar people to reclaim Dankalia from the PFDJ rule in favour of constitutional democracy and decentralized power-sharing arrangements.
The Afar people in Eritrea are striving for freedom from persecution and oppression under the ruling Eritrean military junta, known as the People's Front for Democracy and Justice. They seek recognition of their rights under international law to overcome discrimination, marginalization, and poverty. Additionally, they are advocating for the right to self-government within Eritrea. Securing these rights for groups such as the Afar would contribute to the unity and stability of Eritrea by addressing current challenges posed by the PFDJ rule.
The Afar believe in the sovereignty and integrity of Eritrea’s international borders.
Addressing the Afar grievances in Eritrea by advocating for autonomous Dankalia and striving for a democratic transition and self-governing system would be a crucial step towards promoting democracy in the region. This could potentially inspire other regions to seek similar recognition, amplifying solidarity among Eritreans and the oppressed people worldwide.
