The heading of this article is not intended to refer to the 1970’s Pol Pot of Cambodia or any other tyrant of a long past. It is about the Eritrean Pol Pot, Isaias Afeworki, whose ‘excessive abuses in the past 33 years of the country’s independent existence have been subject of repeated reports and inquiries of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) and other major governmental and non-governmental bodies. Again on 20 June
2024, the Council concluded that the situation is awful and unchanged.
